46 Days without Social Media

   I bet reading that title shocked you. It shocked me when I realized how long it has been since I decided to give it up. It really has not felt like its been that long. I remember over a month ago I felt like God put on my heart to give it up for a while  But I also remember saying, "No, not right now". Well, God definitely had different plans for that because again He pushed it into my view.

   I was reading the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I remember reading that the average American spends 10 minutes with God a day but will spend hours watching television and Im sure that went along with social media. So, that's when I decided to give it up. First it was 2 weeks then a month and now it has been over a month. And I am going to say I haven't missed any of it at all. And I am actually dreading being back on seeing all the drama. I'm glad I decided to do this because I became closer with my Heavenly Father and got to know Him better. Im not saying I'm going look bad toward people who get on, I did this only for me and my relationship with God. 
" The person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruits in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers." Psalm 1:3

  Back about a month ago a friend and I were talking and she said she's been trying to make more time to spend with God but with all the distractions it is sometimes impossible. When I told her I gave up social media for the same reason she thought it was crazy and that she could never do it. To be honest I did not think I could do it either for the first week I was counting the days that I had gone without it, but then something happened. I was enjoying my life without all the distractions and simply looking to God.
"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want. I can do all things through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13

  After ignoring what God put on my heart I definitely learned what He wants is best, He knew that I exactly needed this time with Him. I'm ready for whatever else God has planned. I'm ready to continue the adventure with Him.
 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Day by day


    So many changes have been going on in my life for the last year. The place I called home for over 10 years I don't live in
anymore, I am back in my hometown and so happy that  I am back. I will say I miss my friends and miss being there. He definitely has a plan for me and I am so excited to see what is going to happen here in this new chapter!

    Today I woke up and started getting ready for my day. I listened to some Bethel music, Hillsong and a mixture of worship music getting ready. Next thing I knew I was on my knees crying out to God. I want to be closer to Him thats all I have been craving, more of Him. Its scary when I can't find time to worship and praise Him or have some quiet time with Him, but I can watch tv or be on my computer or on my phone. Why is it we can go day by day and not make time with Him? We make time to go to Starbucks to get our regular coffee, go shopping, watch a movie with some friends, but we can't set aside just 15 mins.  Thats how we get to know him, get closer, have a relationship with Him that is so amazing. He is our Lord, our Prince, our Friend, our Comforter, Our Daddy and He loves us more than we can imagine. So I am going to make a point to set aside time just for me and Him to have together. Cant wait to get closer to Him.

Dvd organizing

These last couple weeks have been crazy! We have been painting the bathroom and guest room and we just finished the guest room last night. SO GLAD! Today is the first day I have to sit down and update my blog. Well, for the last few years my mom has been bugging me about organizing my DVD's or getting rid of them. Before I had them in this. I dont have a pic of them in it but you got the idea;) 
Well I had 2 of these filled up all the way. Crazy I know and not the best system in the world either. I could never find the movie I was looking for and would end up watching something else. And if I did find what I was looking for it took at least 20 mins to find it. Well when we were going through my movies I got rid of 2 big black trash bags of movies that I never watch, but even then I had close to 200 movies. It was time to do something! So after looking on pinterest to get some ideas I came across this idea.

After seeing this I knew it would be alot of work, but I wanted something easy to be able to find the movie Im looking for and also look cute. So I started separating my movies by genere. Action, Horror, Chick-flics, Musicals, and etc. Here is what it looked like, I know too many!!
I got two of these baskets from Hobby Lobby and they were half off got them both for about $13.
 

 
i got these dvd holders to hold single discs in. They came 50 in a pack from target. 
I ordered these from Amazon for the movies that came with 2 or more discs. These are amazing! 

I got the washi tape to use for the top of the file folders. I cut the file folder to a little bit larger than the dvd discs and put the tape at the top to make it look pretty! 
                                                 
Here is in the process of doing them. It took awhile, but its so worth it! I had to trim the papers inside to fit in the single discs. But for the double discs or more like my tv shows it looked like this. 

Here are the finished product! im so glad i did this its so much easier to find and carry around then those plastic bins.

Being Creative! Tier stand

  Lately I have gotten creative. I guess after living with my mom all my life and seeing her doing crafts all the time it has rubbed off on me lol ;) But since I have moved in with my grandparents i have been trying to downsize everything of mine and organize, organize, organize! I even organized my DVD's! But ill post about that in a later post :). I knew i wanted a tier stand for my bathroom, but all the ones I have seen wasn't the look i was wanting. So i searched like crazy on pinterst trying to find something that caught my eye. I thought about a tier stand with baskets and I was going to do that until i saw this on pinterest and i fell in love! This is what i found its so adorable!

  

  So after seeing this I was on a mission to make it. So I head over to my local Goodwill store and got the items i needed. I left with this. 
  I got all of this for under 5 dollars! I was so excited because I didn't want to spend alot on this project. After i left there i headed over to Hobby Lobby to get some paint. I got the tubes of paint by Americana I started with a green color, but after I painted it I decided I didn't really like it so I used some of paint i had leftover from painting my room. Here is how it turned out!

  I first washed all the dishes; then started to paint. I had to a few coats to cover up the designs. I let them dry for a few hours. After they were dry I just glued all the pieces together. All together I spent about 7 dollars. 

Materials Needed:
2 mugs (or more if you want to make higher)
2 plates
1 bowl
desired color of paint
E6000 glue

I thought I would share something I made for one of my education classes. I saw something similar to it on Pinterest, but I changed some of it. I had to make a schedule that will be displayed in my future classroom. I wanted to do something different I looked all over websites seeing ideas what people have done, but i really wanted something where I could move the items around if needed. So, this what it ended up looking like.



What you will need to make it is:
-cookie sheet
-spray paint
-magnets
-letters (optional)

first I spray painted it this really pretty blue that I found at hobby lobby. I made all my labels and put them in the desired place with use of the magnets. Then I found the letters at hobby lobby.  I can not wait till I get to put it in use!

Well I just realized lately it has been awhile since I have done an update on here. But let me get you up to date. There is alot of changes going around the house in the last six months. My step dad got a new job in another state so we are trying to sell the house.... So keep us in your prayers about getting the house to sell.

Today was my official first day back from Chrsitmas break to school. Pretty good day I have a good feeling about this semester! I have gone back and forth with what major to go with in the last couple semesters. I was going to get my major in Teaching, but then I thought about graphic design. Well, long story short that wasn't the major for me so now I am doing Early Childhood Education and I hope I will stick with it this time!!
For the last three days it has rained and rained. Yesterday it started out pouring and then by 4 o'clock yesterday this is what showed up! First snow of 2013!  Its so Beautiful!  I hope everyone has a blessed day and if you got snow, enjoy it!!

Family weekend full of memories!


This weekend me and my family went down to see my Great Grandmother. She lives in assisting living because she has Alzheimer's. The night we got in South Carolina we went right over to see her. She was so excited to see us! I noticed that she kept staring at me. She said she couldn't believe how big I've gotten. We think she is remembers me as a little girl so its hard to process that I'm 19 years old. She still remembers us and some things which is good. I was happy she rememberd ALL of us!
On Saturday we celebrated MawMaws birthday! She was really happy that everyone came out to spend time with her and have a good time!



 I got to see my cousin Erica we have always been close. We don't get to see each other much, but when we do we always have fun!


I am so glad me and my family got to go down to see my mawmaw i know everything meant a lot to her! I love spending time with my family!
